His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, the Minister of Foreign Affairs & Trade, and other Asean ministers yesterday morning paid a courtesy call on Nguyen Tan Dung, the Prime Minister of Vietnam, according to a press release.
This was followed by the opening ceremony of the 43rd Asean Ministerial Meeting (AMM) by the Vietnamese Prime Minister at the Vietnam National Convention Centre.
His Royal Highness was also accompanied by Her Royal Highness Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Zariah, Her Royal Highness Princess Hjh Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade, and YAM Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Hj Abdul Aziz.
The ministers were then invited to view a photo exhibition entitled "Vietnam Asean - Imprints of 15 years".
The ministers also attended the Ministerial Meetings, which included a Retreat, a Working Lunch and a Plenary Session in which they discussed a wide range of matters including Asean Community Building, the implementation of the Asean Charter and relations with external partners.
His Royal Highness welcomed the many initiatives aimed at achieving an Asean Community by 2015 and stated that through these efforts its people have gained confidence in their future.
His Royal Highness called on Asean to enhance further Asean's efficiency and high standards in addressing the concerns of its people.
His Royal Highness also emphasised Asean's centrality in its relations with external partners and the future regional architecture.
