Prince lauds Asean+3 ties

His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, together with other Asean foreign ministers and ministers from the People's Republic of China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK) yesterday afternoon, attended the Asean Plus Three Foreign Ministers Meeting at the Vietnam National Convention Centre.

The ministers reviewed the progress made in Asean Plus Three Cooperation in the Chiang Mai initiative and Energy Security. His Royal Highness stated that the deepening cooperation within the Asean Plus Three has brought many mutual benefits.

The Asean Plus Three ministers were later joined by ministers from Australia, India and New Zealand for the East Asia Summit Foreign Ministers' Informal Consultations.

The ministers discussed developments in the East Asian region including financial cooperation. His Royal Highness highlighted the progress in the East Asia Summit since it was established in 2005 and welcomed various initiatives proposed by the East Asian Summit member states.

Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, earlier in the day, represented Brunei Darussalam at an Asean - ROK. working lunch to discuss the G20 Summit to be held in Seoul later this year. - Borneo Bulletin (22nd July 2010)
