Royalty awarded for academic excellence

Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Primary School yesterday held a prize and certificate presentation for 154 students from Year One until Year Five at the Multi-Purpose Hall.

The guest of honour was Dr Haji Abd Manaf bin Haji Metussin, a member of SYSHHB Board of Directors who later presented the prizes and certificates to the recipients.

Among the recipients were the grandchildren of His Majesty, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Abdul Raqiib bin Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Rahim and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Hariisah Widadul Bolqiah binti Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Rahim.

YAM Pengiran Anak Abdul Raqiib received the awards for Best in Arabic and Best in Physical Education while YAM Pengiran Anak Hariisah Widadul Bolqiah received the award for Best in Ugama.

According to the Principal, Cikgu Norbaini binti Haji Abdullah, about 114 students passed their PSR examination this year, of which 35 scored 5'A's. She hoped that this excellent achievement would be progressively sustained. She also urged teachers to keep up their efforts in educating the young generation.

During the ceremony, SYSHHB Primary School received visits from West Grove Primary School in Singapore. These pupils are here on an educational and exchange programme with SYHHB Primary School.

Among the activities planned for them are learning the traditional culture, language and literature of Brunei Darussalam. - Borneo Bulletin (24th November 2010)
