His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to send congratulatory messages to Mohammad Zillur Rahman, the President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina Wajed, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, as well as the Government and people of Bangladesh on the occasion of the country's Independence Day.

In the message, His Majesty said he looks forward to strengthening the close and friendly relations between the two countries both bilaterally and as partners in the regional and international arena. His Majesty prays to Allah the Almighty for the continued good health, happiness and prosperity of the Bangladeshi President and Prime Minister.

Meanwhile, His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Brunei's Minister of Foreign Affairs & Trade, sent a similar congratulatory message to his counterpart, Dr Dipu Moni, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.

In the message, HRH said he looks forward to working with him in the coming years to strengthen ties between the two countries. HRH also wished the people of Bangladesh continued good health, happiness and prosperity. - Borneo Bulletin (25th March 2010)
