'Penterama' religious performances mark Sultan's birthday

Penterama religious performances staged by the Information Department at the Prime Minister's Office through the Nation and Community section was held at the Belait waterfront park on Saturday evening.

The annual event is organised to mark His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 64th birthday celebrations.

The 'Penterama' kicked off with a brief video presentation on the development of Islam in Brunei Darussalam followed by Nasyid and Tausyeh performances comprising 'Doa Tilawah', 'Sifat 20' and 'Allah Allahu' by the Ar-Redwan group.

It also further enlivened the live acoustic song performances by BANTAMA group and a drama sketch, 'Cekal' by the 'Icon group'.

Ustaz Dr Ismuhadi then delivered a religious talk and conveyed the message in the drama. The event continued with a religious song performance by Hjh Suharizee.

A comedy performance from Hj Daus and Haji Kasum group entertained the crowd further followed by a national quiz.

The Penterama concluded with Nasyid religious songs and the singing of its theme song.

Also in attendance was the 10-member delegation from the Information Department, Malaysia and the Public Relations Department, Thailand who are in the country as part of a three-day officers exchange programme in the field of information.

Attending as the chief guest was the Belait District Officer, Awang Haji Metussin bin OKS Haji Tuba and the Acting Director of Information Department, Dr Haji Muhammad Hadi bin Muhammad Melayong. - Borneo Bulletin (26th July 2010)
