His Majesty at Sovereign Parade

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Minister of Defence and Supreme Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), yesterday consented to officiate the Sovereign Parade Ceremony for the 3rd Intake of Officer Cadets at the Parade Square of the RBAF Officer Cadet School in Sungai Akar Camp.

Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Deputy Minister of Defence, Dato Paduka Awang Hj Mustappa bin Hj Sirat, and RBAF Commander Dato Paduka Seri Major General Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Hj Abidin.

After receiving the Royal Salute, His Majesty inspected a Static Guard of Honour mounted by 26 personnel of the Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF) and the Sovereign Parade comprising 32 Officer Cadets (27 males and five females) of the 3rd Intake, as well as 32 Commissioning Officer Cadets and 26 Junior Intake Officer Cadets.

The Parade Commander heading the parade was 766 Captain (U) Mohd Nooryasdie bin Yahya.

Following the inspection, the event proceeded with the slow and fast march past before returning to position.

After His Majesty delivered a titah, the monarch conferred awards on the best officer cadets from the RBAF Officer Cadet School's 3rd Intake.

The most prestigious 'Sword of Honour Award', was presented to 17456 Officer Cadet (L) Mohd Nabil bin Jalil, who completed his GCE 'A' Level studies at Welbeck Defence Sixth Form College in UK.

Recipients of this award must have strong and exemplary characteristics as an officer in terms of steadfast leadership, and possess an upbeat personality from the beginning until the end of the training at the RBAF Officer Cadet School.

The 'Best In Academic Award' went to 19194 Officer Cadet Ak Ashrin bin Pg Mohd Zaidi, while the 'Best Military Skills Award' was conferred on 21555 Officer Cadet (L) Hidayatul Zabidah binte Haji Dayang.

The 'Best in Physical Training Endurance Award', meanwhile, went to 19186 Officer Cadet (L) Mohd Husaini bin Hj Mohd Sofian.

After military personnel chanted "Daulat Kebawah Duli Tuan Patik" three times to mark His Majesty's 64th birthday celebration, a doa selamat was recited by the Head of RBAF Religious Department (JA'MAAT), Lieutenant Colonel (U) Haji Abdur' Rahim bin Haji Abd Karim.

From the parade square, His Majesty proceeded to the Sungai Akar Officers' Mess, where he consented to receive a 'pesambah'.

After receiving a 'junjung ziarah' from officer cadets and their families, His Majesty consented to sign the Royal Parchment and a 'Book of Journey'. At the end of the event, His Majesty consented to have a group photo taken. - Borneo Bulletin (30th July 2010)
