His Majesty grants audience to Prime Minister of Thailand

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday morning granted an audience to Abihisit Vejjajiva, the Prime Minister of Thailand.

Also present in the audience ceremony were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, His Royal Highness Prince Haji 'Abdul 'Azim, His Royal Highness Prince Haji 'Abdul Malik, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large and other members of the royal family.

The Thai Prime Minister's delegation included Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs Thailand; Theera Wongsamut, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives; Jurin Laksanawisit, Minister of Public Health; and other senior officials.

After the audience ceremony, His Majesty had a four-eye meeting with the Prime Minister of Thailand.

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam later delivered a titah at the official luncheon in honour of the official visit and subsequently Abihisit Vejjajiva, in return, delivered his appreciation remarks.

The luncheon was also attended by His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, His Royal Highness Prince Haji 'Abdul 'Azim, His Royal Highness Prince Haji 'Abdul Malik, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large and other members of the royal family.

The audience and the luncheon ceremonies took place at Istana Nurul Iman.

The Prime Minister of Thailand and delegation arrived yesterday morning. His arrival at the Brunei International Airport was welcomed by His Royal Highness Prince Haji 'Abdul 'Azim.

Upon arrival, the Thai Prime Minister was invited onto the dias to receive the salute of honour which was followed by the national anthems of both countries. He then inspected the guard of honour by the Royal Brunei Land Forces.

The Thai Prime Minister was later introduced to the ministers, deputy ministers, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Commissioner of Police, foreign envoys in Brunei Darussalam, Permanent Secretaries of the Prime Minister's Office and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The Thai Prime Minister arrived in Brunei for a one-day official visit and left yesterday. - Borneo Bulletin (30th March 2010)
