His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam last night departed from Brunei International Airport for Brussels, Belgium, to attend the 8th Asia-Europe Meeting (Asem). Present to bid farewell to His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office.
Also present to bid farewell were HRH Prince Hj Jefri Bolkiah and HRH Prince 'Abdul Malik, as well as other members of the Royal Family. Senior government officials were also in attendance.
Prior to departure, a doa was read by the State Mufti.
The 8th Asem is scheduled to start on Oct 4, carrying the theme "Quality of Life".
