Royal audience to outgoing S'pore Chief of Staff

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Minister of Defence and Supreme Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), yesterday consented to receive in audience Lieutenant General Dato Paduka Seri Desmond Kuek Bak Chye, the outgoing Chief of Staff of Armed Forces of the Republic of Singapore.

Also present at the Istana Nurul Iman were Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Commander Major General Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Datu Seri Paduka Haji Abidin and Singapore High Commissioner to Brunei Joseph K H Koh.

In a separate room, Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha also consented to receive in audience Datin Claudel Elizabeth Kuek, the wife of the Singapore Chief of Defence Force.

Nurhayana Janis binti Abdullah, the spouse of the RBAF Commander, was also present.

The day also saw His Royal Highness Prince General Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and General of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), receiving in audience the outgoing Chief of Staff of Armed Forces of the Republic of the Singapore.

Major General Hj Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Datu Seri Paduka Hj Abidin and Mr Joseph Koh were also present. The two-day farewell visit by Lieutenant General Dato Paduka Seri Desmond Kuek Bak Chye is aimed at maintaining the strong, existing working relations between both countries. - Borneo Bulletin (9th March 2010)
