Stick to ethics, girl guides told

"With firm and strong leadership shown by the (Brunei Darussalam Girl Guides) association's leaders, all the coaching, guidance, instruction and trainings given to every member in the association should be able to produce and empower responsible individuals."

Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha said this in a titah at the Girl Guides Day celebration 2011, which was held in conjunction with Her Majesty's birthday at the Orchid Garden Hotel in Berakas yesterday.

Her Majesty, the Royal Patron of the Brunei Darussalam Girl Guides Association, advised members of the association, especially the youth, to always keep up and maintain the ethics and principles of the association and urged them to enhance themselves with leadership qualities so that they are well-equipped to become future leaders in the association.

Her Majesty also said that with the excellent performance and commitment shown by the association, Her Majesty believed that the association would be able to run and manage their activities more effectively.

"Driven by passion and determination, continuous efforts and support portrayed by the members since 60 years ago shall be worthwhile and fruitful and produce success for the association for the next 60 years," Her Majesty added.

Accompanying Her Majesty were HRH Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah, HRH Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah, the President of the association, HRH Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bolkiah, HRH Princess Hajah Masna, the Vice-President of the association, and HRH Princess Hajah Amal Umi Kalthum Al-Islam.

The Brunei Darussalam Girl Guides Association began celebrating the Girl Guides Day since 1983.

At the event, Her Majesty consented to present the Special Award badge to two veteran members of the association - Datin Paduka Hajah Zaharah binti Haji Idris and Datin Paduka Hajah Jusnani binti Haji Lawie - for their long service since the day of the establishment of the association in 1951 until today.

Her Majesty also consented to present Long Service badges comprising gold, silver and bronze to 10 members of the association for their 20, 15 and 10 years of service respectively in the association.
