Royalty joins UBD Jogathon

Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah yesterday supported Universiti Brunei Darussalam's Jogathon 2011 by participating in the event's female student category (four kilometres), which was one of the 10 categories open to participants.

Also joining Her Royal Highness in the jogathon that began and ended at the university's new student residence (The Core), was Pengiran Seti Aminah Pengiran Othman, wife of YAM Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Wadood Bolkiah bin Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Hj Abdul Aziz.

In the male students category (six kilometres), Aminuddin Zakaria won the jogathon title while Fuitze Tan came in first place in the female students category.

Some of the other winners of the day were Hjh Masriatol Zuraifah (women under 30 years old), UBD staff member Asmali Hj Sulaiman (men between 31 and 40 years old) and UBD staff member Hjh Asmah Hj Husaini (women between 31 and 40 years old).

The male and female categories for UBD personnel above the age of 41 were won by William Duane and Hjh Ummi Kalthum Hj Ali Omar respectively, while the male and female open categories, which was open to the public, were won by Shahul Hamed and Siti Nursyahmina Hj Zaini respectively.

Following the prize presentation to winners by UBD Acting Vice Chancellor, Associate Professor Dr Zohrah Hj Sulaiman, HRH Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah posed for a group photo with the guest of honour, senior UBD officers, and Pengiran Seti Aminah.

Donation boxes were seen at strategic places during the jogathon. Also seen were modified cars showcasing car audio systems, as well as activities organised by various student clubs.

Ten per cent of all the proceeds from the jogathon will be contributed to SMARTER Brunei and the National Welfare Fund. - Borneo Bulletin (18th April 2011)
