Sultan arrives in Australia for CHOGM

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam arrived in Perth, Australia last evening to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

Present at the Perth International Airport to greet His Majesty were Stephen Smith MP, Minister for Defence and Tony Krsticevic MLA, representative of Western Australian Government and some senior officials from Australia.

Also at the airport were Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade II, and Awg Haji Adnan bin Haji Mohd Jaafar, High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to Australia.

The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting will be held from October 28 to 30 at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre and will be chaired by Julia Gillard MP, Prime Minister of Australia.

The theme for this year's meeting will be 'Building National Resilience, Building Global Resilience'. During the meeting, His Majesty will also be attending a banquet dinner to be hosted by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for Commonwealth Heads of Government and spouses.

Whilst in Perth, His Majesty will also be attending a Junjung Ziarah ceremony with Bruneian students and officers undergoing in-service training in Australia and their families.

Earlier, His Majesty was bid farewell by HRH Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, HRH Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, HRH Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, HRH Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah and HRH Prince 'Abdul Malik, as well as the Cabinet ministers. - Borneo Bulletin (27th Octopber 2011)
