Sultan receives new envoys

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday afternoon consented to receive Letters of Credence from four foreign envoys to the Sultanate.

The four newly appointed foreign envoys are, namely, Mr Tahir P Karimov, non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan; Serap Ataay, non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey; Mr Shukur Sabitov, non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan; and Mr Ferenc Somogyi, non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary.

His Majesty then consented to receive in separate audiences the newly appointed foreign envoys from the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Turkey, the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Hungary.

Mr Tahir P Karimov, 49, the non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan, previously served as Head Consultant at the Foreign Relations Department of the Office of the President of Azerbaijan. Mr Karimov is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Meanwhile, the non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey, Sera Ataay, 49, previously served as Consul General in Constanta, Romania and was the Deputy Director General at the Directorate General for Africa and East Asia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey. The ambassador is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Mr Shukur Sabitov, 46, the non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan, previously served as Head of Department for Cooperation with Asia and Pacific Countries, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan before he was appointed as the Ambassador to Malaysia. The ambassador is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

And the non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary, Mr Ferenc Somogyi, 55, previously served as Minister of Foreign Affairs and was the Ambassador of Hungary to the United States of America. The Mr Somogyi is based in Singapore. - Borneo Bulletin (29th January 2011)
