Royal congratulatory messages to Germany and Republic of Korea

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to send congratulatory message to President of the Federal Republic of Germany Christian Wulff and to Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Angela Merkel on the anniversary of the Day of Germany United.

In the message to the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, His Majesty stated that it had been a pleasure and an honour to meet him in Berlin last June. The monarch also believed the visit had helped to enhance the warm friendship between the two countries and looked forward to continuing work to strengthen this relationship both bilaterally and internationally.

His Majesty ended the message to the president by extending his warmest regards and very best wishes for a happy celebration to him and the people of Germany.

In his message to the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, His Majesty stated that it had been a great pleasure to meet her in Berlin recently and His Majesty very much appreciated the discussion he had with the chancellor and the warm welcome of the German people. The monarch looked forward to working with the chancellor and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany to enhance ties between the two countries both bilaterally and as partners in the Asean-EU Dialogue and the Asia-Europe Meeting.

His Majesty ended the message by extending his kind regards and best wishes to Angela Merkel.

His Majesty also consented to send a congratulatory message to President of the Republic of Korea Lee Myung-Bak on the occasion of the National Day of the Republic of Korea.

In the message, the monarch said he greatly valued the close friendship and cooperation between the people and governments of the two countries. His Majesty was also pleased that bilateral relations continued to grow and develop and looked forward to working together with the president in achieving prosperity and progress for both countries and for the region.

In concluding the message, His Majesty extended his best wishes for a joyous celebration and for the president's continued good health and happiness.

Meanwhile, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah sent similar congratulatory messages to both Germany and the Republic of Korea.

In a message to Germany, HRH sent his warmest congratulations to German Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs Guido Westerwelle, the government and people of Germany in celebration of the Day of Germany United.

HRH stated, "We have much appreciated our friendship and cooperation with the German Government and people over the past year and are most grateful for the warm welcome our people always receive whenever they visit your country."

HRH also looks forward to continuing to strengthen the much-valued relations both bilaterally and through the Asean-EU Dialogue and the Asia-Europe Meeting. HRH concluded his message by extending his very best wishes and warmest regards.

In a separate message to the Republic of Korea, HRH sent his warmest congratulations to Korean Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Kim Sung-Hwan, the government and people of the Republic of Korea on the occasion of National Foundation Day.

HRH stated, "I would also like to thank the Korean minister for the valuable consultative meeting hosted in Seoul earlier this year, and for the generous offer of assistance in aspects of our national Vision 2035. It was much appreciated and I look forward to continuing our work together to strengthen our much-valued friendship and cooperation."
