His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office yesterday attended a Chinese New Year open house at the residence of LegCo member, Pehin Kapitan Laila Diraja Dato Paduka Awg Goh King Chin.

Upon arrival at Pehin Dato Paduka Goh's residence in Kg Sungai Besar Jalan Kota Batu, HRH were greeted by Pehin Goh and spouse as well as other members of his family.

Pehin Goh is amongst one of the most prominent business figures who annually hosts the open house on the first day of Chinese New Year. Well-wishers comprise Cabinet Ministers, members of the diplomatic corps, fellow business associates, bankers and LegCo members.

Pehin Goh also welcomes members from various welfare associations and villagers around the area. The open house serves as an opportunity to strengthen ties and friendship amongst the Chinese community in Brunei as well as extending festive greetings to families.

A lion dance performance also took place at the residence.

His Royal Highness also took a group photo with Pehin Goh and his family.

This year's celebration falls on the Year of the Rabbit, which is traditionally associated with home and family, artistic pursuits, diplomacy, and keeping peace thus 2011 is predicted to be a relatively calmer one than 2010. - Borneo Bulletin (4th February 2011)
