Royal messages for Myanmar's Independence Day

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to send congratulatory messages to Senior General Than Shwe, Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council, the Union of Myanmar and General U Thein Sein, Prime Minister of the Union of Myanmar, on the occasion of the 63rd Independence Day of the Union of Myanmar.

In the messages to Senior General Than Shwe and General U Thein Sein, His Majesty extended his warmest congratulations to them, the government and people of the Union of Myanmar on the occasion of their Independence Day.

In the message to Senior General Than Shwe, His Majesty said he greatly valued the warm and cordial relations between the two countries and was confident that these relations would continue to be developed in the coming years.

In the message to General U Thein Sein, His Majesty conveyed his happiness with the close and friendly relations that exist between the two countries and looked forward to strengthening these relations bilaterally and as partners in Asean.

His Majesty wished Senior General Than Shwe and General U Thein Sein his best wishes for their continued good health and happiness as well as for the continued progress and prosperity of the people of Myanmar.

Meanwhile, His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Brunei Darussalam sent a congratulatory message to U Nyan Win, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Union of Myanmar, on the occasion of the 63rd Independence Day of the Union of Myanmar.

His Royal Highness sent his warmest greetings and best wishes to him, to the government and people of Myanmar on their Independence Day.

HRH congratulated him on the many developments taking place in Myanmar and looked forward to continuing to strengthen the friendship, cooperation and mutual respect shared by people of both Brunei Darussalam and Myanmar. - Borneo Bulletin (4th January 2011)
