Royal messages for US Independence Day

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to send a congratulatory message to President Barack Obama of the United States, as well as to the government and people of the US on the occasion of their Independence Day.

His Majesty stated that he was pleased with the warm friendship and close partnership shared between the countries and looked forward to continue working with President Obama to strengthen the long-standing relations and cooperation.

His Majesty also wished President Obama all the best in hosting the Apec Leaders' Meeting in Hawaii later this year and looked forward to meeting him there.

His Majesty conveyed his best wishes for President Obama's continued good health and happiness.

Meanwhile, His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, sent a congratulatory message to Hillary R Clinton, Secretary of State of the US.

His Royal Highness said, "I have much pleasure in sending my warmest congratulations and best wishes to you and the government and people of the United States on your Independence Day.

"I much appreciate the longstanding friendship and cooperation our people share and look forward to continuing our work together, both bilaterally and through our countries' partnership in many regional and international organisations.
