Istana welcomes 94,000 well-wishers

The total number of visitors who greeted His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha and other members of the royal family at the Istana Nurul Iman Hari Raya open house this year reached 94,431 people, according to Istana officials.

This year, visitors on the first day totalled 36,149 (22,949 in the morning and 13,200 in the afternoon).

On the second day, visitors totalled 24,300 (15,081 in the morning and 9,219 in the afternoon).

The third day welcomed 33,982 (19,216 in the morning and 14,766 in the afternoon).

The number of people who visited the Istana this year portrays the continuous enthusiasm of locals and foreigners alike in greeting the royal family to wish them "Selamat Hari Raya".

On the third day of the annual event, the male section of the visitors was graced by the presence of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, who was accompanied by His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah, HRH Prince 'Abdul 'Azim, HRH Prince 'Abdul Malik, HRH Prince 'Abdul Mateen, HRH Prince 'Abdul Wakeel and other male members of the royal family.

The female section, meanwhile, was graced by the presence of Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha, who was accompanied by Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Bini Hajah Faizah, HRH Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Norhayati, HRH Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah, HRH Princess Hajah Muta-Wakkilah Hayatul Bolkiah, HRH Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bolkiah, HRH Princess Hajah Hafizah Sururul Bolkiah, HRH Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah, HRH Princess Hajah Masna and other female members of the royal family. - Borneo Bulletin (4th September 2011)
