His Majesty values 'special ties' with UK

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to send a congratulatory message to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, members of the royal family and David Cameron, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, on the joyous occasion of Her Majesty's birthday.

In the message to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, His Majesty stated that the United Kingdom and Brunei Darussalam shared a long-standing history of goodwill and close cooperation, and that His Majesty much appreciated Her Majesty's personal contribution in strengthening this special relationship.

His Majesty stated that it was both a great honour and pleasure to represent Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at the Sovereign's Parade at Sandhurst and to join Her Majesty and the royal family at the wedding ceremony of Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

His Majesty conveyed his kindest regards and very best wishes for Her Majesty's continued good health and happiness as well as the continued prosperity of the people of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

In the message to Prime Minister David Cameron and to the government as well as the people of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, His Majesty stated that he greatly valued the close and excellent ties shared between the two countries. His Majesty was confident that there would be many opportunities to further strengthen these relations.

His Majesty expressed his appreciation to the British Prime Minister for the kind hospitality extended to him during his visit to the United Kingdom last April, and His Majesty expressed his great pleasure at meeting the British Prime Minister and believed that the discussions between them helped to foster closer ties.
