Some prominent women from Brunei's community have worked together in harmony and produced an elaborate celebration to mark the birthday of Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha last night at the Berkshire Hall of Jerudong Polo and Country Club.

The festive ceremony was put together by the 'Spouses of Cabinet Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, Deputy Permanent Secretaries and Associate Members Group'.

Accompanying Her Majesty were Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah, HRH Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Zariah, YAM Pengiran Bini Hajah Faizah, HRH Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah, HRH Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bolkiah, HRH Princess Hajah Masna and HRH Princess Hajah Noor Ehsani.

In her welcoming remarks, the president of the aforementioned group, Datin Paduka Hjh Jahrah binti Hj Mohammad, shared that the members had also conducted a number of religious ceremonies in conjunction with Her Majesty's birthday, including a Khatam al-Quran ceremony, mass Hajat prayers and a thanksgiving ceremony at the residence of Datin Hjh Alimah binti Hj Taib, spouse of the Minister of Religious Affairs.

This year, she added, also included a number of volunteer activities carried out earlier in the year to raise donations that were handed over to two senior citizens in the Temburong District and to the National Orphan's Fund as well as several visits that were made to the families of victims who passed away during the tragic bus crash that occurred in December 2011. - Borneo Bulletin (10 October 2012)
