Sultan receives Speaker of Malaysia's House of Senate

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday afternoon granted an audience to Tan Sri Abu Zahar bin Dato' Nika Ujang, the Speaker of the House of Senate of Malaysia at Istana Nurul Iman. Tan Sri Abu Zahar is in the country for a three-day official visit.

Accompanying Tan Sri Abu Zahar during the audience with His Majesty were Dato' Abdullah Sani bin Omar, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam; as well as members of the Senate, Senator Mariany Mohammad Yit, Senator Baharudin Abu Bakar, Senator Dato' Jaspal Singh Gurbakhes Singh, Senator Dato' Nallakaruppan Solaimalai and Senator Dr Syed Husin Ali.

Also present during the audience were Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Bakti Diraja Dato Laila Utama Awang Haji Isa bin Pehin Datu Perdana Manteri Dato Laila Utama Haji Awang Ibrahim, Speaker of the Legislative Council, and Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Jaya Dato Paduka Haji Awang Judin bin Haji Asar, Secretary to the Council of Cabinet Ministers and Clerk I (First) to the Legislative Council. - Borneo Bulletin (20 June 2012)
