PENGIRAN Cheterias, Cabinet Ministers, members of the State Legislative Council, deputy ministers as well as Pengiran Pengiran Peranakan and senior government officials yesterday attended a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony, marking the end of the nightly Tedarus event for the month of Ramadhan at Baitur Rahmah of the Istana Nurul Iman.

The event started with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Pehin Datu Imam Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Awg Abdul Hamid bin Bakal.

Minister of Education, Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Hj Awg Abu Bakar bin Hj Apong read the first of the final Surahs of the Al-Quran, followed by other cabinet ministers and high ranking dignitaries.

This was later followed by a Tahlil recital. The presentation of Dikir Syarafil Anam then commenced, followed by Dikir Marhaban.

To close the event, a Doa Selamat was read by the State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Hj Awg Abdul Aziz bin Juned. - Borneo Bulletin (24 July 2013)
