Crown Prince visits school construction site

HIS Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, visited the construction project of Kampong Lumut Secondary School (SMKL) yesterday. The construction of the school comes under the 10th National Development Plan (NDP).

The $18.3 million project started in May 2010 with an expected completion on March 30 in a 7.049 hectare site.

His Royal Highness the Crown Prince was in the Belait District yesterday to officially launch the $34.5 million Ulu Belait dam and $3 million Brunei Tropical Biodiversity Centre. HRH also visited two other places, which were Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Secondary School in Lumut and also the nearby construction of the SMKL as well as a visit to the 282-hectare Lumut/Sungai Liang National Housing Project.

His Royal Highness was welcomed on arrival at SMKL by YB Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Hj Suyoi bin Hj Osman, Minister of Development; YB Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Awang Hj Yahya bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Bakar, Minister of Industry and Primary Resources; YB Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Awang Hj Mohammad Yasmin bin Hj Umar, Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister’s Office as well as 10th NDP committee members.

The visit to the NDP project sites is the continuation of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince’s “Turun Padang” (on field) series of visits to assess or survey the implementation of projects under the NDP which aims to achieve the nation’s Vision 2035, to make the country a nation that has a highly educated and skilled workforce, high-living standards and dynamic and competitive economy. - Borneo Bulletin (24 March 2013)
