HIS Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik attended a ‘Doa Kesyukuran’ ceremony held in conjunction with the 21st anniversary of the establishment of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) at the multipurpose hall of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex in the capital yesterday.
His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik is the Chairman of the Committee of Governors of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.
The religious event commenced with the mass Maghrib prayer and was followed by the recitation of Surah Yaasiin led by Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Awang Haji Salim bin Hj Besar. Following that, the Doa Kesyukuran and mass Isyak prayers were also held.
Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) was first established on October 5, 1992 in conjunction with the Silver Jubilee of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s accession to the throne.
The establishment of the YSHHB serves as a charity- based vehicle to provide donations from His Majesty as an act that illustrates the monarch’s concern and generosity towards the people and citizens in the country as well as ensuring the prosperity of the nation.
In the first decade, Yayasan contributed various plans, projects and activities which correspond to the policy and purpose of its establishment, encompassing the fields of religion, welfare, education, development and finance.
Once their objectives have been carried out and met, Yayasan continued to redouble its efforts in the second decade of establishment and implemented new initiatives to address the issue on demographics as well an ever-changing and challenging socio-economy.
In entering the third decade, Yayasan will continue to plan and undertake proactive and innovative measures and steps which are appropriate to ensure the success and attainment of its plans, projects and activities.
Yayasan will continue to render aid and assistance to the people and citizens of the country which are aligned with the vision of increasing the quality of life and excellence in socio-culture and socio-economy. Yayasan will ensure that any assistance and service provided as well as projects which have been implemented will satisfy its target audience in order to enhance the prosperity and welfare of the nation.
At the same time, Yayasan will support the vision of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to eradicate poverty towards the year 2035.
This year, Yayasan earned recognition by the Asean Secretariat to receive a Leadership Award at the Asean Rural Development and Poverty Eradication Leadership Awards on July 5 in conjunction with the 8th Asean Ministers Meeting on Rural Development and Poverty Eradication in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
Also present at the religious ceremony were YAM Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris bin Pengiran Maharaja Lela Pengiran Muda Abdul Kahar, Deputy Chairman 1 of the Committee of Governors of YSHHB; Pehin Jawatan Luar Pekerma Raja Dato Seri Utama Dr Ustaz Haji Awang Mohd Zain bin Haji Serudin, Deputy Chairman 2 of the Committee of Governors of YSHHB; Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong; Chairman of the Board of Directors of YSHHB; members of the Yayasan’s Committee of Governors, members of Yayasan’s Board of Directors; members of board of trustees of Dana Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah for Orphans as well as officers and staff from Yayasan and teachers at the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah schools.
