Malaysian PM arrives for Friendship Bridge opening

MALAYSIAN Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak arrived early this morning for a working visit to Brunei Darussalam to attend the 17th Annual Leaders Consultation with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

Upon arrival, the Malaysian leader was welcomed by HRH Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and the Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, and HRH Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah.

Before their talks, His Majesty and the Malaysian leader are scheduled to open the Friendship Bridge that connects Limbang in Sarawak and Temburong in Brunei Darussalam in a historic event, said a Wisma Putra statement Friday, according to a Bernama report.

“Construction of the bridge began in May 2012. It is another historic milestone in the excellent relations between Malaysia and Brunei,” it said. - Borneo Bulletin (8 December 2013)
