Crown Prince visits Al-Shaheed Armour Brigade

HIS Royal Highness Prince General Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, and General of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, yesterday visited the 35th Al-Shaheed Armour Brigade.

According to a press statement, upon arrival at the brigade by helicopter, His Royal Highness was greeted by Lieutenant General (Rtd) Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the State of Kuwait.

His Royal Highness and Lieutenant General (Rtd) Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah then walked to the dais to receive a Salute of Honour, followed by the national anthem of Brunei Darussalam and the national anthem of the State of Kuwait.

His Royal Highness was then introduced to Military Defence Council members and Under Secretary Assistance as well as officers of the 35th Brigade.

His Royal Highness then proceeded to the Terrain Model Hall for a briefing on the structure and organisation of the 35th Al-Shaheed Armour Brigade.

His Royal Highness was also invited to try a tank simulator and subsequently proceeded to view a demonstration using armoured and transport tanks.

His Royal Highness was also invited to board an armoured tank and shortly afterwards to a photo session.

Before the visit concluded, His Royal Highness received a Pesambah from Lieutenant General (Rtd) Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the State of Kuwait.

His Royal Highness also presented a plaque to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the State of Kuwait.

His Royal Highness was later invited to a luncheon hosted by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the State of Kuwait, in honour of the visit of His Royal Highness to the brigade.

Accompanying His Royal Highness throughout the visit were Counsellor Nasser Mishari Al-Rawdhan, Chief of the Mission of Honour as Minister-In-Attendance; Dato Paduka Awg Hj Ali bin Hj Apong, Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; Pg Hj Mustapha bin Pg Hj Aliuddin, Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to the State of Kuwait, and Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Hj Yussof bin Hj Abdul Rahman, Deputy Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces. - Borneo Bulletin (13 March 2014)
