Crown Prince visits Open Houses

HIS Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office yesterday honoured the Brunei Chinese community by visiting some of their Open Houses during Chinese New Year (CNY) celebrations.

Accompanying HRH the Crown Prince were Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah, and His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik. Also in the royal entourage were His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Muntaqim and Her Royal Highness Princess Muneerah Madhul Bolkiah.

Among the Open Houses Their Royal Highnesses visited yesterday was the home of Maju Motors Sdn Bhd Executive Director Chan Key Hong’s.

Their Royal Highnesses were proudly greeted upon arrival by Chan Key Hong and Chan Sui Kiat and members of their families.

Their Royal Highnesses also consen-ted to take part in the ‘Yee Sang’ or Prosperity Toss – an interactive must-have dish that ushers in good luck in the Chinese tradition during Chinese New Year celebrations.

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah yesterday also attended the Chinese New Year Open House of another prominent figure in the Chinese community and Legislative Council (LegCo) member, Yang Berhormat Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh King Chin.

Accompanying Their Royal Highnesses were HRH Prince ‘Abdul Malik, HRH Prince ‘Abdul Muntaqim and HRH Princess Muneerah Madhul Bolkiah.

Their Royal Highnesses, on arrival at the residence of the LegCo member in Kg Sungai Besar, Jalan Kota Batu, were greeted by YB Pehin Dato Paduka Goh, his spouse and family members.

Earlier, the Open House was attended by HRH Princess Hajah Masna and YAM Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Haji Abd Aziz along with their son YAM Pengiran Anak Haji Abd Wadood Bolkiah and his spouse Pengiran Seti Aminah binti Pengiran Othman.

Among others in attendance were several Cabinet Ministers, members of the Diplomatic Corps in Brunei Darussalam, senior officials from the government and private sectors as well as prominent business associates.

YB Pehin Goh is among prominent business figures who annually host Open House events on the first day of Chinese New Year.

He also welcomes members from various welfare associations and residents around the area.

Chinese New Year Open House serves as an opportunity to strengthen ties and friendships among the Chinese community in Brunei as well as to extend festive greetings to families.
