HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, yesterday afternoon, consented to visit the Institute of Technical Education or ITE Central.
In a separate event, Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha consented to visit the Singapore Zoo hosted by Mrs Teo Chee Hean.
Upon arrival at the ITE Central, His Majesty was greeted by Heng Swee Keat, Minister of Education of the Republic of Singapore; Bruce Poh, Chief Executive Officer; Dr Benjamin Tan, Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Development); Dr Ang Kiam Wee, Principal of the ITE College Central and Tham Mei Leng, Director of Corporate and Development Affairs Division.
Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik. His Majesty was invited to the Board Room where the monarch was briefed on ITE Central and later consented to sign a visitor book.
His Majesty received a ‘pesambah’ from Heng Swee Keat.
After the briefing, His Majesty visited the Centre of Technology in 3D Applied Technology (iCUBE); Maritime Hub; and Aerospace Hub. His Majesty concluded his visit with a photo session in front of ITE Aircraft.
ITE Central or the Institute of Technical Education was established as a post-secondary education institution in 1992 under the Ministry of Education.
ITE is a principal provider of career and technical education and key developer of national occupational skills certification and standards to enhance Singapore’s workforce competitiveness.
Under its “One ITE System, Three Colleges” Model of Education and Governance, ITE has three colleges, comprising ITE College Central, ITE College East and ITE College West, with a total of around 20,000 students.
Accompanying His Majesty were Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister of Environment and Water Resource of the Republic of Singapore, as Minister-In-Attendance; YAM Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar; Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Education; Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim, Minister of Finance II at the Prime Minister’s Office; Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade II; and Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar, Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister’s Office.
Meanwhile in a separate event, Her Majesty visited the Singapore Zoo hosted by Mrs Teo Chee Hean.
Accompanying Her Majesty was HRH Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Upon arrival at the zoo, Her Majesty was greeted by the wife of the Deputy Prime Minister as Coordinating Minister for National Security, Minister of Home Affairs, Mrs Teo Chee Hean.
Also present were Chief Marketing Officer, Isabel Cheng; General Manager of the Night Safari, Kumar Pillai; Director of Education, May Lok and Director of Sales, Liang Wern Ling.
Her Majesty was invited to tour the zoo which is well-known for having the most beautiful wildlife park settings in the world, where animals roam freely in open and natural habitats.
The 26-hectare wildlife park is nestled within the rainforest and houses more than 2,800 animals representing over 300 species of mammals, birds and reptiles.
