HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to visit some of the homes of recipients of the National Housing Scheme in Kg Lugu yesterday.

Before visiting the houses, His Majesty visited the residence of the Village Head of Kg Lugu and Kg Katimahar, Awang Salim bin Adi.

Some residents waited for His Majesty’s arrival for hours despite the visit being brief. Residents showcased products under the ‘One Village, One Product’ initiative.

Awang Salim said Kg Lugu has 876 residents, while Kg Katimahar has 877 residents. The area has a 350-hectare Agri Park managed by the village’s consultative council. The park has local fruit plants, buffalo and a crocodile farm, which are open to the public.

The park also has an area for camping but it still lacks basic amenities such as water and electricity, however, there are several natural water fountains in the area.

Awang Salim said the village hopes to improve the facility and officially launch it.

The visit was enlivened with a Gulintangan performance from the Prisons Department. - Borneo Bulletin (3 June 2014)
