Crown Prince at Conferment Ceremony in Indonesia

HIS Royal Highness Prince General Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, and General of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces consented to a Conferment Ceremony of Honorary Member of the Marine Corps.

Upon arrival at Kesatrian Hartono, Cilandak, South Jakarta, His Royal Highness Prince General Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah was greeted with the guard of honour from the Quarter Guard. His Royal Highness then walked past a Vallrip and was greeted by Admiral TNI Marsetio, Chief of Staff of Navy and Major General Faridz Washington, the Commander of Marine Corps.

At the VIP Room of Yonif-6, His Royal Highness consented to watch a video presentation on the organisation of Marine Corps.

Then His Royal Highness was invited to the open stage camp of 2nd Infantry Marine Brigade for a Conferment Ceremony of Honorary Member of the Marine Corps, MARINIR.

From the stage, His Royal Highness was then invited to a dais accompanied by Major General Faridz Washington, the Commander of the Marine Corps. At the dais, His Royal Highness received a Weapon Salute from the marine soldiers.

After that, a team of army tanks carrying Honorary Beret and badges stopped in front of the dais and subsequently handed over the badges to Major General Faridz Washington who later graciously attached the badges to His Royal Highness. Shortly afterwards, Major General Faridz Washington presented the Honorary Beret to His Royal Highness.

After that, His Royal Highness was invited to board a special vehicle and inspected the lines of marine soldiers.

Back at the dais, His Royal Highness consented to deliver a Sabda expressing his appreciation for the Conferment as Honorary Member of the Marine Corps, MARINIR.

His Royal Highness said that his father, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, had also received such honour in 2003. Therefore, His Royal Highness added, the conferment was also an honour for His Royal Highness.

His Royal Highness confident that the relations of the marine corps of both countries will be enhanced in the years to come.

When the conferment ceremony ended, His Royal Highness was invited to the stage.

Shortly afterward His Royal Highness consented to a photo session with the MARINIR army before proceeded for an afternoon tea hosted by Major General Faridz Washington, the Commander of the Marine Corps, MARINIR.

Shortly before departing the Marine Corps, His Royal Highness consented to receive a plaque presented by Major General Faridz Washington, the Commander of the Marine Corps, MARINIR. In return, His Royal Highness presented a plaque to the Commander. His Royal Highness then consented to sign a visitor book.

Upon leaving the Marine Corps, His Royal Highness consented to receive a salute of honour from the Quarter Guard.

Accompanying His Royal Highness were Dato Paduka Awang Haji Ali bin Haji Apong, Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Haji Mahmud bin Haji Saidin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to the Republic of Indonesia; and Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Yussof bin Haji Abd Rahman, Acting Deputy Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces and Commander of Royal Brunei Land Force. - Borneo Bulletin (6 May 2014)
