Women’s Council holds prayers for Royal Patron

THE Brunei Darussalam Women’s Council (BWC) yesterday held special mass prayers to mark the birthday of Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha, who is the BWC’s Royal Patron.

The prayers, which took place at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Mosque in Kg Rimba, also aimed to strengthen the solidarity among BWC members.

The mosque’s prayer hall was filled with more than 150 women from all 13 associations which are grouped under the BWC, including Pertiwi, Bakanita, Perbekal and International Women’s Club.

The ceremony started with Maghrib and Hajat prayers, the recitation of Surah Yaasiin which was followed by a special thanksgiving prayer for Her Majesty. The congregation then performed Isyak prayer.

Among those present were BWC President, Pg Datin Paduka Hjh Mariam Pg Hj Matarsat, Datin Hjh Masni Hj Mohd Ali, BWC Vice President I, and Datin Hjh Siti Hajar POKSS Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Yussof, the BWC Secretary who was also the event’s chairman.

The BWC, which has more than 2,000 members, is involved in tackling social issues. - Borneo Bulletin (7 October 2014)
