Local performers are set to reveal their talent during the Cultural and Local Arts Night to be held at the Cultural Stage in front of the Royal Regalia in Jalan Bendahara on September 7.
It is organised by the National Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Brunei Darussalam and Brunei Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industries in cooperation with the PSA Muara Container Terminal Sdn Bhd, Archipelago Group of Companies, Auto-Engineering Sdn Bhd and Daha Trading Sdn Bhd.
Local singers to be featured include Hasbarena Asli, Erna Kasumawati, Ak Amilin, Fakrul and Putri Norizah, said event manager Hj Mohammad bin Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Laila Begawan Mudim Dato Seri Utama Hj Ismail.
He said the performances are expected to show that locals do possess talent and abilities. "All they need are opportunities and openings such as the Cultural and Local Arts Night to show their talent," he said.
He said the dance routines for the songs will be provided by local dance group Lively Dancers, while comical sketches will be provided by well-known comical artistes Dang Kasum and 2 friends.
A well-known local host, Pg Hj Hanafi, will provide coordination for the cultural show, which is organised in conjunction with the Royal Wedding.
He added that the night will commence with an opening dance by Lively Dancers who will perform the traditional dance Zapin Beradat.
"Local singer Hasbarena will sing Badasila, Manira, Hadirlah and Kenangi Daku, while Ak Amilin will belt out Menari, Sri Brunei and Bunyi Gitar.
"Erna Kasumawati will serenade the crowd with songs such as Sinaran, A Love Before Time and Jendela Hati and another local singer Putri Norizah is set to woo the crowd with songs such as Janji, Can't Fight The Moon Light, Wassini and Hi Hi Bye Bye," he said.
Fakrul, another local singer, is set to belt out Keabadian Cinta, Kenanganku and Cinta. He will also sing Tenung Tenung Renung Renung with Hasbarena Asli and Hanya Memuji with Erna Kasumawati.
The event will also showcase children singers such as Amalina, who will sing Datuk Saya, and Nuraqiilah Bazillah, who will belt out Mawar Oh Mawar.
"All the local artistes, back-up dancers and children singer will appear for the grand finale with a group song dedicated to the Royal Wedding, Bahagia Pengantin Diraja," said Hj Mohammad. The public are welcome to watch the show, for which the entry is free.
