Thousands of automobile enthusiasts flocked to the two-day 3rd Car and Audio Show at the Indoor Stadium in Berakas held in conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 62nd birthday celebration.

Organised by YKF Master Sound company, the car and motorbike showcase was participated by more than 140 people from the nation as well as from Miri and Limbang.

Participants gave their best show and vied for the top prize in 16 different categories.

The most awaited category was the DB King where participants showed their car audio prowess to the judges.

A member of the organising committee, Sharol, said this is the third time they have organised the event after their success in 2006, when they held two shows.

"We're glad that the demand in Brunei is relatively high. Thanks to the relevant authorities for approving the show, we are looking forward to the next one in 2009.

"We had a break last year (2007) but the previous participants and the public in general kept on asking us to organise another one," he said.

Participants calling themselves 'Club Max Hiper' joined the event for the joy of sharing the fun in vehicle modification.

"We were formed in 1997 so we could get together and share any new interesting information regarding cars, audio systems and these kinds of stuff. Eventually our number got bigger and now we are more than 20-strong. We started with less than 10 people," said Hj Amirul, a founding member.

"We are very grateful that this event was organised. It allowed us to see and experience first-hand what's the latest out there, or anything unique. This is a much healthier platform for us to share the love of our vehicles. Others who have the same passion as the rest of us here should come forward and participate. We used to refer to the Internet, magazines and news from friends," he said. - Borneo Bulletin (18th August 2008)
