Royalty at colourful RBAF anniversary celebration in Rimba

People from all walks of life took the opportunity once again, as in previous years, to watch the Royal Brunei Armed Forces' (RBAF's) Anniversary celebration that saw many activities lined up, particularly the exhibitions and arena performances.

This year's colourful and exciting programme, hosted by the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF), took place at the Rimba Air Base and was no less of a crowd-puller than that of last year.

Yesterday afternoon, the event was also graced by Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah and His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Muntaqim who were greeted on arrival Commander of RBAirF Brigadier General (U) Dato Paduka Hj Mahmud Hj Saidin.

HRH Paduka Seri Pg Anak Isteri Pg Anak Sarah the special arena performances by the RBAF's various sections and units, as well as the Static displays inside Hangar A.

Her Royal Highness later signed the royal parchment at each of the participating units in their respective display areas and, prior to departure, had a Santap.

Following the main celebration held yesterday morning and despite the scorching weather, members of the public flocked to the Rimba Air Base with much enthusiasm.

Among the highlights were a flag-raising ceremony and a sailing wheel race by the Royal Brunei Navy, BO RBAirF's 105 aircraft, as well as First Aid demonstrations by the Force's Medical Services and a Platoon Attack show by the Royal Brunei Land Forces (RBLF).

The Static Display was well-received, as visitors took the opportunity to get up close with the variety of displays.

Young children were all excited to go onboard the various mode of air transport of RBAirF, such as the CN-235 and Blackhawk Sikorsky 70, the several RBN vessels and RBLF military vehicles, among many others. - Borneo Bulletin (1st June 2009)
